COOL High School Youth!!!
Important!!! Important!!! Important!!!
There are two summer activities to sign up for THIS MONTH!!! (That would be January!)
The first is the continuation of sign ups to go to Nazareth Farm, West Virginia, for our mission trip, June 2-10.
At Naz Farm, we live in community with youth from five other parishes, going to the homes of some of the poorest
yet friendliest folks you’ll ever meet to help them in home repair projects.
You don’t need any particular skills—just an open heart. Ask anyone who has gone to the Farm before
and they’ll tell you the same thing: truly life-changing! Truly amazing!
The second sign up is for the Steubenville Youth Conference in Springfield, Missouri, July 13-15.
We’ll be joined by a couple thousand high school folks for a couple of days of
rally-style energy, prayer, workshops, games, mass, and inspiring talks.
We’ll leave Friday morning and return Sunday afternoon.
The cost for each of these is $240. (Money is not needed to register. We’ll collect that later!)
You can register for either one at any high school youth event
or by calling Deacon Ken at 761-8811, extension 108.
The deadline for registering for each of these is February 1!!!
Youth Evenings!!!
It’s where church and friends come together and awesome stuff happens!
We have two this month: 1/8 and 1/22. Time: 7:00-9:00 with open gym at 6:30.
Required for Confirming Faith.
Out to the Movies!!! All of the movies from the holidays are still in the theater.
We’ll meet at 6:30 on Sunday, 1/15, pic a couple of movies, and head out to Eastglen. Return: 9:45ish.
Movie prices are $11 for a regular movie; $14.50 for a 3-D.
Bring the enclosed permission form.
Service Stuff!!! Help the poor through our monthly trip to Harvesters on
Thursday, 1/12, 6:00-9:00 p.m. Bring cash for a stop at McDonald’s on the way back.
Confirming Faith!!! Required activities include both Youth Evenings (1/8 and 1/22).
Remember: there is no Sponsor Night this month.
Parents!!! We need chaperones for the Sports Lockin on 1/28.
If you can help, please call Deacon Ken (761-8811, ext. 108).
Jr. High Youth Group!!!
Ministry for 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders!!!
Hey!!! Hey!!! Hey!!! If you haven’t come to any Jr. High Youth Group stuff last semester you are REALLY missing out! We’ve had an excellent group of folks that have done some really fun stuff so far. Folks are bringing friends (who are always welcome) and the team’s doing a fabulous job.
A couple of reminders:
- All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are invited.
- The activities in this newsletter are also in the parish bulletin each week.
- Your friends are ALWAYS open to any of our activities (6th-8th graders only).
- NEVER let the cost of an activity keep you from coming. If you can’t pay for an activity going on, just talk with Deacon Ken when you get to the event or ahead of time (761-8811, extension 108) and we’ll take care of ya.
Jr. High Night!!! Junior High Nights included open gym, icebreaker games, food, friends, and prayer time. Our team is always there to make you feel at home and insure that you have a great time. This month, we have a Junior High Night on 1/11, 7:00-8:30.
Harvesters!!! Every month we help the poor by working an evening at Harvesters’ warehouse, sorting food to send out to food pantries and soup kitchens. Help us out on Thursday, 1/12, 6:00-9:00. Bring cash for a stop at McD’s and the enclosed permission form.
Ice Skating at Crown Center!!! It's time to bundle up, strap on skates, and pretend we know what we're doing on that frozen water! We're heading out on Wednesday, 1/25, at 6:15 and will return at 9:00. Bring $6 and the enclosed permission form.
Looking ahead… Jr. High Night (2/8), Harvesters (2/9), and William Jewell Sports Lockin (2/17).
Parents!!! We could use extra drivers for ice skating on 1/25. Please call Deacon Ken to volunteer (761-8811, extension 108).
January!!!
