Five years ago on October 8 was the first Legion of Mary meeting at Coronation of Our Lady. We have many wonderful organizations at Coronation; the Legion of Mary is one of them. “The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work.” These words from the official website of the Legion are a high calling. The website continues “Drawing its inspiration from the True Devotion to Mary, as taught by St. Louis Marie de Montfort, and which had a profound influence on the Founder of the Legion, the Servant of God, Frank Duff, the Legion is at the disposal of the Bishops and Priests for use in the mission of the Church. While essentially a lay association, legionares look for spiritual and apostolic formation to priests and religious, who, as Legion Spiritual Directors, hold an honored place in the Legion system.”
Working with Deacon Mike and me, our Legion has done so much. From coordinating the Adoration program to walking the streets of Grandview inviting people back to church. From picking up the elderly and those who can’t drive and bringing them to the parish to leading rosaries at the nursing homes in town and assisting me at Masses there; they have been a great blessing to us all.
Please stop by their table on the first weekend of the month in the vestibule and consider coming to one of their meetings from 5:30-6:30pm on a Friday. They’d love to have you! Please see the parish website under http://www.coronationofourlady.org/ministries for more information.
