I grew up in southeastern Wisconsin and was named after a priest, Fr. Stephen Peil, my mom’s uncle. Raised with six sisters and brothers by my late parents, Eugene and Margery, I attended Catholic grade and high school, then the University of Wisconsin – Parkside. I studied Business, and then Biology. I additionally studied Pre Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, and attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis. Finally, I was ordained a priest by Bishop Robert Finn on June 3rd, 2006. Prior to being named pastor of Coronation of Our Lady I was a transitional deacon at St. Andrew the Apostle in Gladstone and pastor of Immaculate Conception in Lexington.
Member of the Coronation of Our Lady Parish Family since February of 1972; married to Catherine in 1970 and raised two sons, Scott born in 1972 and Christopher born in 1974; ordained to the diaconate on June 6, 2009; favorite Scripture verse — ‘I am the vine, you are the branches.’ (John 15:5)”
I have lots of volunteers to help me keep the Food Pantry running and others that help make God’s house repaired and running efficiently. God has blessed me with the best of help.
I take care of most of the office work, including the accounting and make reports to the finance committee. In addition to the office, I also work with the youth, planning youth activities, retreats, and trips. Our big project at the moment is raising money for the youth to go to World Youth Day 2016 in Poland to see the pope! I have a lovely wife and have a son who just turned one.
My primary job involves the detailed paperwork for our Food Pantry. Every client that comes to the food pantry needs an up to date form to sign each time they come. I’m also responsible for the monthly reports to Harvesters, listing of the monthly commodities, ordering food from Harvester both regular and special occasions (Thanksgiving and Christmas) and also providing all necessary back up information for the government audit of the pantry. In addition I provide back up coverage for the office as needed.
I have had the privilege of serving Coronation parish as Music Director since my young family moved to Grandview in 1994. I also attended Coronation grade school and was married here. Jim and I have three grown children and three beautiful grandchildren. I have also been a teacher in our diocesan school system for the past 30 years and currently teach 5th grade at Our Lady of the Presentation School. Being involved in music ministry is both a personal and community endeavor. I am grateful to have the opportunity to actively participate in helping our parish family worship together.
